Exercise1 - Palpation

  • Palpation is the process of identifying & monitoring muscle tension.
  • It is important as it allows us to monitor the abdominal muscles as we exercise.

Palpating involves pressing your fingers deeply into your muscle to identify tension points. Normally, at rest, muscles will be completely soft.

 

 
     

Palpate 3 Areas

 
2 Upper Triangle - this is the triangle formed by the lower part of the ribs on both sides.  
     
4 Middle Stomach area - This is the area on your mid stomach flexion line (the line across your tummy through which you bend)  
     
3 Upper abdomen and Lower abdomen

TIPS

1. As you press in the muscles should be completely soft

2. Palpating allows you to monitor your muscle state, so make sure you perfect this technique !
